Northend United 1 Annagh United 3    Saturday 14th December 2024

This week the team played Annagh United FC in the NIBFA Cup at home in Ballymena. Missing 4 first team players they drafted in 4 x u16’s. Annagh United FC From the first whistle played the ball about well and it took a while to settle. The back four of Luca, Aodhán, Wiktor and Shay B were under lots of pressure and it wasn’t long before Annagh United FC took the lead. This was followed quickly by a second. This seemed to kick start the team with Jack, Shea, Andre, Aaron, Ryan starting to support Shane up top. Half time 1-1

The second half saw the introduction of Joe, Caleb and Joe from the u16’s and all 3 didn’t look out of place as they quickly settled into the game. The hardworking Aaron was pushed up top to support Travis and this caused Annagh United FC problems but the goal just wouldn’t come as chances came and went. Annagh United FC would seal the game with a third on the break. However, a goal from Shane would mean a nervy last 10 for Annagh United FC, the team battled but the goals wouldn’t come.
Special mention to u16 Lughan Hardy who stepped up to play in nets. Full time 1-3

Panel: Lughan Hardy, Luca Laverty, Aodhán McGarry, Wiktor Wronski, Shea McConnell, Jack Patterson, Aaron Doherty, Ryan McClintock, Travis Corke, Shane McAuley, Andrzej Smolinski, Shay Butler and Caleb DaPrato, Joe O’Hara, Corey King

Northend United 2 St Lukes 3   Saturday 16th November 2024

This week the team played top of the table St Luke’s FC at a very impressive Grosvenor Road facility. St Luke’s FC From the first whistle played the ball about well and it took a while to settle. The back four of Luca, Aodhán, Wiktor and Shay Butler snuffed out the few chances as St Luke’s FC  tried to pass their way through. However, it was a long ball over the top that would give St Luke’s FC the lead. This seemed to kick start the team as the midfield started to dominate and put pressure on St Luke’s FC making them play route one. Jack, Shea, Odhran, Aaron and Shane where starting to support Pauric up top and it was the hardworking Aaron who would equalise with a thunderbolt into the top corner. Half time 1-1

The second half saw the introduction of Jude, Ryan McClintock and Andre and this added more threat to the attack. It was St Luke’s FC who would rush into a 3-1 lead as we tried to get back into it. Odhran would pull one back to make for an interesting final 10, however the third would not come. Special mention to Lughan Hardy who stepped up to play in nets. Full time 2-3

Northend United 3 Ballymoney United 2   Friday 8th November 2024

This week the team played Ballymoney Academy FC on Friday Night in Magherafelt. Within 20 seconds of the game we rushed into the lead after good play by Jack, he realised Shane on the right who crossed and Odhran finished from close range after confusion in the Ballymoney Academy FC  defence. This seemed to encourage Ballymoney Academy FC and the back four of Luca, Aodhán, Wiktor and Shay B started to come under pressure. A long ball wasn’t dealt with allowing the Ballymoney Academy FC striker to finish smartly. The midfield four of Odhran, Aaron, Shane and Shea were working hard to try and created chances for Jude up top. Half time 1-1

The second half continued with both teams trying to play and create chances. However it was Ballymoney Academy FC who would take the lead, after allowing the midfielder time he was able to pass the ball to their striker to finish. It wasn’t long before the equaliser came after work from Shea on the right his cross was bundled home by Aaron. Now with the introduction of Travis up top Ballymoney Academy FC had more to worry about. With 7 minutes to go Ryan McClintock was introduced after over a year with a knee injury and it was his cross with minutes to go that would be finished by Travis to secure the 3points.  Full time 3-2
